Default AMD forces NVIDIA to drop prices onthe GTX260

Saw this rumor circulating that nvidia has underestimated the 4870 and will drop launch prices accordingly.....
NVIDIA shakened by Radeon HD 4800, lowers prices? | NordicHardware
I hope its true I think I'm going to go ATI this round- they may just have caught nvidia with their pants down-especially with the 4870 X2

Just a quick note to the mods-any chance of correcting the "forces" in my title I pressed the save button a little too quickly.

I'd like to support AMD, but too bad I'm already settled in with my 9600GT. Maybe when starcraft 2 is out I'll give my sister the 9600GT so she can play it and buy an ATI card

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the 48XX series cards. I won't be purchasing a new vid card any time in the near future, but the market needs competition and the 4850/70 might be just what the doctor ordered.

On top of competition in the vid card market, there's also the hope that the ATI side of AMD/ATI will be able to keep them afloat long enough to come out with a competative CPU.

Could you not just slap a $30 card in or something?
Computer depravation can get pretty nasty. You should be very cautious in how you go about it.

haha ya ok maybe you guys are right. I just have a feeling the 3870s are worth more now than they will be in a month ;) Maybe I'll just sell 2 of them, hold on to one for nostalgia.

I see a very major reality check in the works for Nvidia. There is also a story about AMD getting HAVOK physics (yes I know Intel owns them) for the 48x0 series cards. AMD and Intel have put aside their differences to offer this. Nvidia has charged too much for their cards and have been far too greedy with SLI and really deserve all they get. Bravo AMD!!!
