GTX 750 Ti rumours

I have read multiple posts/articles about a potential gtx 750 Ti being maxwell based, but built on 28nm.

While it initially seemed it would be a solid gtx 660 replacement supposedly a card was tested putting it between the 650 Ti boost, and 660 and getting a mid Feb launch. With that performance I feel it should drop the Ti and just be a 750, but what say do I get.

Anyone have more info on this mystery card?

Yeh that's what I have heard as well, lackluster gain in that a 650Ti boost is the better pick(from what I have heard i.e news around the internetz, 650/750 about same, 650Ti slightly better average performance then 750Ti though not quite as good power or thermals) so it might be Maxwell, but they should have kept that part quiet as it really is not a good first showing for an "amazing" architecture, Nvidia is real good at marketing and hiding facts when they want to.

Guys your missing the point of these cards: no external power needed!

This means they are perfect for SFF / HTPC builds where 1080P is all that peeps will be gaming at. As an added bonus less heat ouput and less noise. Honestly while I may find the rumors meh for main PC rigs....for a living room PC this will be awesome, especially if we get good after market cooling from MSI, Asus, PNY, etc come about.

Not sure about the no external power part, I'm pretty sure it's going to need a 6 pin. Maybe that's just the Ti though, or maybe it's a custom PCB. But I've seen a 750 Ti (and non Ti) with a 6 pin.

So far what I have read had the Ti with a 6 pin and a non-Ti without. It would be great to get that performance with no 6 pin if it is the case. Pricing (as always) will be a deciding factor on this one.

I must be the only one who doesn't mind having a 6-pin if it allows for more performance.

Plus, for an HTPC, I'd go AMD.....but that's just me.

I feel pretty much the same way. I want performance per $ first and performance per watt as a close second. I was hoping something like a 750ti would be a very nice upgrade from my ageing 460, but with the rumoured sub 650ti boost performance that plan will fall to the wayside. Maybe actual maxwell at 20nm will be my answer...unless someone decides to sell off their 660 for a good price.

Their drivers for use on a TV just seem more polished, right? Specifically why I'm looking at an R7-260X.

From a pure gaming standpoint, though, it's hard to beat a nice Nvidia card.

Nvidia is on goof balls with the whole dynamic range defaulting to limited (16-235) range. Hooked up my GTX 680 to my JVC projector and it looked like hot ass. I messed around for nearly an hour before figuring it out only to have changing it to full range not work. Thankfully someone wrote a script to change it in the registry forcing it to work. Kinda painfull in this day and age. Will be selling the card and going back to AMD for HTPC.
