You are absolutely right.
Thanks for moving the thread to the appropriate section.

I'll update OP once we get an official statement regarding this.

I just phone Canada Computers and was told 28 card of MSI R9 280x just arrived. I had to place my order online so we'll if I get one. But looks like AMD are still shipping some.

MemX is stocking up, sounds like pushy sales propaganda

Was talking with some of their sales team this morning they confirmed they have stock showing up all week, no shortage but lots of sales :)

Just got off the phone with one of our big US retailer contacts. R9 280Xs are coming in by the truckload over the next few weeks.

There is a shortage of R9 290 series cards but in the words of the contact: "And that's different from every other AMD launch....how?"

Something about Binning issues, but that really isnt uncommon with some launches.
There might be some cards that are exiting the pipeline into retail channels, but I assure you people will start crying out about a 280x shortage. Its demand created, not AMD's fault however. There is no one to blame here but you damned miners!! hahaha

Local stores here restocked R9 290X and not 280X.

I was ohhh so close to buying one, as soon as my camera sold... but now there is a ~$50 price jump.
I know, "supply and demand". But it still hits like a load of bricks for someone terrible with money like me.
RIP tight budget

I have six in the mail. I am contributing to the "shortage". If I do not need them all do you guys think I should just return them or sell them here?

I bought 4 of them from NCIX a couple days ago. I've yet to receive any indication as to when they'll be shipping out. I did receive my free Battlefield 4 codes though.

Hoping the manufacturers get supply sorted soon, I haven't seen a decent 290x that didn't sell out in less than a few hours.
