Possible 5Ghz AMD

Would be interesting if this was a base clock with a higher turbo. Would it be asking to much if it OCed the same amount as the current AMDs?

I demand quad channel ram and pcie 3.0 and then I will go back to amd at that price :P

I damn well want more info:dots:

Honestly, for most users RAM and PCI are not bottlenecks at this stage in the game.

What blew me away from AMD to Intel was the increase in SSD performance. Intel platforms are noticeably faster at booting from SSD's. THAT is what AMD needs to work on.

Back to the Super-FX in question. $795????? For 5Ghz on air? It would seriously be cheaper to custom watercool a regular 8350, in which case you could likely get it to 5+Ghz.

Or, better yet, a 3930K (or the equivalent IB-E, whenever that gets released) would await me as a viable alternative if I'm spending this kind of money.

Agree with you there but if I am spending 500+ for my F$##ing CPU I want all the bells and whistles not just a faster SSD controller I want it all and not a half assed 990fx chipset I want the 1090ULTRA Chipset that have everything that LGA2011 has to offer and then some.

I want a AMD CPU that is actually fast with that price point I want 8 cores and 32 thread paths :P I want it all baby.

I miss having faith in AMD. My FM2 rig though fun to tweak with is dog slow compared to 1366 or 1155 but is not much slower to my old 8150fx. AMD needs to get off their asses and bring the power. They have always been my Favorite brand I would always buy their gear over Intel but these days no way :(

ahhhh... I miss those old AMD days, Just less than a month ago made the switch to Intel after many of years with AMD. Im still fan of an AMD and if they put something decent on the table again, I would go back instantly.

And they need to work on Power Consumption.

The difference in heat output between my son's rig (1055T, OC'd to 3.8) and my rig (3570K OC'd to 4.8) is VAST. Put my hand behind the 1055T, and I can feel HOT air blowing over my hand. Put my hand behind MY rig, and it's barely above ambient.

If they are charging this much for the cpu I am hoping its more then 8 core at 5Ghz. My 8350 already runs at 5Ghz so they need something with more wow then just hand picked 8350s. 12 cores @ 5Ghz(with some headroom for more) built on their Steamroller(10-15% boost per clock). I will go buy it the day it comes out.

I thought AMD was getting outta the CPU market all together. I thought I read they were focusing on mobile type stuff.

Bond007 April 13, 2013 06:00 AM

Unless they have done some serious tweaking this is going to be a 175w TDP CPU.

LegendMask April 13, 2013 09:15 AM

I heard the same thing, they are focusing on cell/notebook stuff. but honestly after all AMD is still good and it can dominate Intel when it comes to mid range CPU's performance on many applications/games or even streaming considering performance/price. But once we start talking about high end performance Intel is way far far ahead.
