Default ...AMD 8xxx series compatible but there is not 8xxx yet odd

ARCTIC

looking at a LCD mount and came across their compatible lists :S

More than likely because the 8XXX will be revamps of the original 7XXX series just refined.

That means they know the 8xxx will use the same base core and PCB, just slightly tweaked. And from a customers POV it's nice to know that you van buy the cooler for your current card and possibly re-use it when he decides to upgrade.

This is why........... AMD Radeon? HD 8000 Series Graphics (OEM)

OEM 8000 series cards are the 7000 series rebadged.

Radeon HD 8000 Series Goes OEM as AMD Rebrands HD 7000 Desktop GPUs | Hardware Canucks

I bet the naming of AMD's next gen cards will change because of this in an attempt to avoid confusion.

I was hoping that they would at least make some sort of improvement like more efficiently running cores, higher clock, etc etc.

Even GTX Titan rumour-ish news sounds better than this.
