It'd be great to see vid card pricing work it's way back to the old standards. At the very least, I'd like to see the mid-range back around $200 - $250.

There are no price drops initiated by AMD. These are only at specific retailers and are not in any way official at this point.

Nvidia overdue to follow suit (on the 680 / 670 at least) ?

I believe so... though their popularity will prop them up for a while yet..
Can see many going for a 7970 over the 670 / 680 as they are such good value now..

They have come down ,you can get a GTX-670 as low as $349 and $319 with rebate and the GTX-680 has come down to $449 and $429 with rebate.But the HD-7950 can be found as low as $289 and the HD-7970 has come down to $389 and $369 with rebate.
