Aren't these the cards rumored to be using XDR2 ram? The ones that reach retardedly high memory clock speeds?

i'm probably wrong, but i think i read somewhere that they'll still be using ddr5. could be totally wrong though

edit: just read somewhere that the 7900s will be using XDR2, and the lower 7xxx cards will still use ddr5

Shame they couldn't have most of the series supporting it. The apparent power savings it gives on top of the 28nm fab could mean some fairly efficient cards.

yeah, if they're using the new memory for some of the 79s, i don't see why they can't for all of them. maybe it's more expensive? or it's possibly a marketing strategy to force consumers to buy higher end cards. hehe...

The XDR2 seems to be as much of a rumor as the release date. Maybe someone will release a leak on that sometime soon as well. Hopefully this leak (about 9 Jan launch) has some truth to it so we can all stop wondering.

Jan 9 seems like a really stupid time to release them.

I feel this rumor may be false, as any company would have pushed to get the cards out before christmas.

If they aren't ready there is no sense in pushing them out. ATI has been suppling some rather good video cards for reasonable prices for some time now. I'm happy to wait and watch them kick nvidia's ass around a little bit.
