Default 9800 GTX specs and dissapointing.

Some sites that claim they have specs.

KetZone.com GeForce 9800 GTX Card Photos & Specs Unveiled
9800GTX GPU-z screen shot - Expreview.com

and 3d mark score.
9800GTX 3Dmark06 score here - Expreview.com

If these rumors are true then ATI will probably get my monies.

I am not going to put a lot of faith into that 3DM06 score posted as you can easily get 14K on a $220 8800GT :\

9800GTX is going to be an overclocked 8800GTS 512MB card. There is not much to look forward too until the fall....

I'm looking forward to the price drops if there are any.

grr... The fall is so long away.....cries... Well maybe a GTX will do fine. or a X2. Those X2's are probably what I am going to get cause I hate nvidia if they make it this crappy.

whats coming in the fall? thats when Im hoping to upgrade the gpu..........

Personally ill wait for the reviews on this before passing judgment--I wonder if the days of hitting us with massive leaps forward in GPU power are over for a bit...the 8800 revolution is getting a bit long in the tooth now and apart from a smaller core not too much has changed?

Well even if the 8800 GTX still keeps up we still need faster cards for games like crysis and far cry 2.

I'll bet it scales well for SLI at least

The GX2 is going t be delayed until March 18th now so looks like ATI holds the crown for a little longer

Whelp, ATI's got my money this time around. I've heard some talk of shader tweaks for the 9-series, but nothing beyond that. Not even a process shrink.

Anyone who bought an 8800 GTX when they first came out, or even an Ultra, has got to be laughing their heads off these days.

There should be a good deal more to choose from in the fall. ATI and Nvidia are (supposedly) both releasing new GPU's by then.

The 8800GTX/Ultra cards are still the choice card for 1920X1200 and higher resolutions. For most of us, it is worth saving the extra now and buying a GTS. There is no reason at all to sell a GTX for any currently available cards.

I know I am, I got a sick deal on my 8800 Ultra and even then back in July when I got it I was worried that I would quickly lose my value.... Simply speaking that wasn't and STILL isn't the case .

That being said I have a damn itch to upgrade but can't... lol

Default not actually so bad

this is actually a pretty good thing. think..., what was our issue with the 8800GTS 512? the memory bandwidth kills it. it barely performs better than a GT, even though it should kick the crap out of a GTX (21% advantage on the shaders, 17% advantage on the GPU). but the bandwidth is only 62.1GBps stock, versus 86. bringing that up to 70 should actually do a lot of good. and any over-clocked versions, which could bring that even higher, should be pretty nice. we could see a card that beats the current GTX by about 10%. considering that it is replacing the GTS (since the GX2 is presumably the new high-end option, despite the naming confusion), this is much less disappointing than it seems. any price under $450 (where the GX2 is expected to weigh in) is actually pretty excellent. the 8 series was an anomaly as far as how much it beat the 7 series. The 9 series is more promising than it seems on the surface.
