With the alleged near release and alleged die shrink, I too have decided to delay my upgrade in the GPU area. Regardless of whether those rumours are true, my GTX 275 is able to run the games I play, albeit only at medium settings (1680x1050), so I only feel upgrading is necessary if the new cards are extremely enticing. And if they're not, then I can buy the previous generation at a bargain price.

Good point. I'm going to wait as well. 8600 GT is barely holding on though...

There's ALWAYS a next Gen "better" Card looming on the horizon.....!! Wouldnt hold out for Kepler until perhaps April / May 2012 (unsure of Radeon), although Fermi is "long in the tooth" as one poster mentioned, 2 580's in SLi still is a mega power house for high Res gaming ;)
Also, dont count on seeing "big" price drops on old tech when new GPU's come out, most old tech stuff simply goes EOL and the stock that is left generally stays at a premium price until stock is gone9usually its not a lot of stock).....maybe a small reduction, but thats about it, then the old tech is simply gone.....other than purchasing used.

Where you see this biggest price drop is the used market

Lots of people racing to get rid of their "old" card. Great time to get a second card, imo.

That's the plan, get by for now until the 600 series. I was offered a really good price for my 570's as well so I figured why not. I got them on a wicked sale and was basically giving what I paid for them plus I got Just Cause 2 and Arkham City free.

Can't complain with that deal then. I would do the same.

I agree, that's when I buy GPU cards is off people getting rid of there some what older cards.
Hoping to pick up some good used NV cards to SLI.
