Default NVIDIA GTX 560 Launching May 17

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Video Card Launching May 17th - Legit Reviews

Quote:
Rumor has it that NVIDIA will be releasing another video card for the mainstream video card market! This time around it will be the GeForce GTX 560 video card and it appears to be directly competing with the AMD Radeon HD 6790. This card is not to be confused with the GeForce GTX 560 Ti edition as it has fewer cores, 336 versus 384, and that appears to be the main architectural difference according to the rumors going around today. The AMD Radeon HD 6790 is a $150 graphics card, so we'd expect this card to cost slightly more than that. The GeForce GTX 560 Ti can be found for $199 after rebate, so we can see this card coming out for ~$40 less. We will find out in due time what the real price is. The NVIDIA graphics card lineup is starting to get pretty full, but AMD has even more.

GTX 460 is GF104. This is GF114. There's probably some refinements so it's not really a renaming. I wouldn't expect to see much difference though, besides maybe better stock and overclock speeds, and improved optimization and efficiency like the GTX 560 Ti.

I have to admit, I Agree that both companies have way too many cards in the market. But such is the way of things.

550 already exists This would be the 555, or maybe the 560ti core 336, just like the old 260 core 216

Foresight for naming schemes fail, really.

Isn't the profit margin super slim for NVIDIA and AMD/ATI? Integrated graphics is getting pretty powerful for the average user already, plus it's been said that the market share of integrated graphics is only going to go up. Plus people are starting to buy tablets now instead of desktop PCs and laptops.

well, yes, integrated gpus are dinging the low end cards, where most of the sales are made.

but still,if you want decent fps accross the table, youll have to wait a few more years before

not using a discrete graphics solution.
