My System Specs

Default Paranoid

Paranoid: Perhaps its just paranoia but given Intel has launched most of the new 45nm quad lineup (except for the mainstream desktop quads that will be oc'd)- Are they busy fiddling with them so they only work on X38, X48, and P45 boards.

Despite marketing 45nm compatibility on their P35, I have a feeling they are pushing for a motherboard + mainstream 45nm quad CPU upgrade by jumping to 1600FSB.

Well, their upcoming lineup, with the exception of their server/Skulltrail chips are all FSB1333, and the P35 chipsets are fully certified for that speed, and they have the necessary electrical equipment.

The problems with older chipsets, as well as Nvidia's, were electrical/BIOS related.

Since we're looking at entirely new chipsets with Nehalem, we're probably okay with any of those choices. A pity that P35 doesn't have PCI-E 2.0, though.

Default sounds good

I hope your right. I still have a feeling Intel will launch the Q9*** cpus in March to coincide with the newer motherboards while leaving the P35 in the cold.

BTW if you don't spell the title of a post correctly how do you change it?

Yeah, i doubt they'd risk p*ssing people off...so close to the new mobo standard for Nehalem.

Their 9*** series quads should run on the P35 just fine, really. It's just the server/Skulltrail chips that use FSB1600, but they're socket 771 (I think), so it's a moot point. Whenever Intel finally sells them, if you've got one of the P/X-series boards, you should be good to go.

Wish we had a definite answer on when the X48 was being released, though. All I've seen is from the INQ, claiming that Asus is blame for the delay.

Isn't the QX9750 s775 and 1600MHz FSB while the QX9775 is the s771 version?

Forgot about that, that's right. With a $1500 price tag by the thousand, according to Intel's road map. Grab your QX9650's for $1000 while you can!
