NCIX has a limited edition custom PC that will be unveiled soon. (5 computers available)
It packs "an undisclosed" graphics card, the Corsair Case will be painted RED...

NCIX.com - NCIXPC Coming Soon

NCIX FORUMS - NCIX PC Limited Edition System - Vesta ...

House for a HD6990 I bet!

Totally impractical right now, at least with the high end GPU's. Remember all the problems with yield that both AMD and Nvidia had last year? When you double the size of the die, you get like 4 times the defective chips (Sugar's rough math). Yes, you could put say 2 GTX 560's on a die, but the R&D and manufacturing overhead make it less cost effective than making one GTX 580. IMHO, that's why you only see dual GPU cards at the top end of the spectrum, where being the absolute fastest counts without respect for money. (Like the 9800GX2, and the 5970) To me, that's also why SLI and CF aren't cost effective. You spend twice the money, for a 20-40% increase in performance. I always recommend buying the best single GPU card you can afford.

I get what you're trying to say, but making the analogy between CPU cores and GPU cores is greatly flawed... A GPU die is a massive number of cores, where a CPU die is a limited number of cores...

Maybe what you're trying to suggest is multiple GPU dies merged into a single die? What you're suggesting is just having a larger die to fit more GPU cores into it... I am not experience in this area, but I think they use dual dies instead of a single die for thermal reasons and possible some issue with having a die, that large, communicate internally?

It's a very hard one to call, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just photo-shopped out the GPU he's holding and put in a 6990. Still, there is the slight possibility that this guy (as a funny joke) got this picture taken. Just because he has 3D glasses on doesn't mean he's actually representing nVidia.
