although modifications can be made to the final product, the first pictures with Matt Skynner showed the 6990 was supplied power through an 8 pin and a 6 pin, not 2 x 8 pin connectors.

I guess things can change. I've also read in seperate released different ratings of tdp and power consumption. So I'm not going to worry about it until it comes out, and we get some hard numbers.

ALSO, I wonder if you NEED to use one of those motherboards that have extra power connectors close to the PCI-E slots to feed the extra juice??? ( you know like the big bang marshall)
150 + 150 + 75 = 375w...

I don't know that much about idle powers, but dropping from 375w to 37w seems like BS to me. I don't see AMD cutting their market considerably by requiring any special motherboard. They would lose sales if their new flagship product isn't compatible with normal systems.

I am curious how they routed airflow seeing as the fan sits between the GPU's.
does it suck from the middle and vent on both ends? if so thats a lot of hot air dumped into your case.
if they did some fancy ducting to move the back GPU air to the normal exhaust then i can see the one 6 pin power being for the front GPU to run a little cooler. master and a slave setup maybe?
meh i wont be able to afford one in the near future so when everyone gets theirs just sell me one of your newer than my 4890 dx 11 cards cheap

I know everyone is anxiously waiting for tomorrow to come. In the mean time however it seams that someone is already posting pre-orders on the long awaited card.

ASUS Radeon HD 6990 Listed on Pre-Order | techPowerUp

Is it over priced? likely yes, but hey, someone has to have it first lol

hmm...ok, 830 core for the stock one and 880 for the oc one? not too bad for a duallie.

prices..h.mmm....theoretically it will be more than 2 6950s(265x2=530) but less than 2 6970's(320x2=640)
so probably the ole 599$ will stick..probably....

sky, awaiting your thoughts on the noise factor :)
