dell to buy amd?
Rumor: AMD is up for sale, Dell may be interested - TechSpot

I might finally become an intel guy :shok:

CMetaphor February 15, 2011 11:08 AM

Completely impossible. Even says in the article "It's a far- fetched possibility." - which means its BS.
AMD is doing just fine, their GPUs are thriving in the midrange and the Bobcat-based netbooks and systems that had been released recently have been well-received and vastly outperform Intel's Atom-based equivalents. This article has to be a sham

gingerbee February 15, 2011 11:15 AM

ya not going to happen

matsta31 February 15, 2011 11:18 AM

Market having fun..... Trying to explain AMD lack of higher management.

SKYMTL February 15, 2011 11:31 AM

No, things really aren't going fine at AMD.

They currently has a HUGE upper-management issue but that doesn't equate a sale to Dell. Especially considering Dell has very, very little cash on hand.

martin_metal_88 February 15, 2011 11:43 AM

AMD for sale can't be bad, if a company with bigger found buy them they will be able to put a lot in research which can only be good for the AMD chip. Maybe IBM would be a good owner.

picture nv with super delayed fermi..now picture amd with super delayed dozer..not exactly a walk
in the park. but there is hope :) and if they dont frog up like intel and their stupid revision? :)

draemn February 15, 2011 11:59 AM

Even if AMD decided to sell instead of toughing it out, I really don't see Dell being the one to buy them. Still, the chance of AMD selling instead of trying to fix their company? Maybe they'll sell a very small portion to free up cash to focus on more profitable areas?

LarkStarr February 15, 2011 01:20 PM

I doubt AMD will sell. they've hit a bump getting on the right track, but once their plans come to fruition, they'll be doing better, and then they can finally start in the mobile sector..

JJThomp February 15, 2011 01:35 PM

Yeah I don't think this is going to happen... But if somehow it does I will never buy amd again and probably sell my current amd based laptop.
