I'm coming from an old 8800GTX which idles at 68-70. So heat isn't a concern since for the most part it'll run cooler than my current cards... LOL

I checked out the thread earlier today and no news really. Still a rumor.

If you have a GTX480 or GTX470, you're going to or can get a free bracket, just pay $4.95 USD for shipping and handling per bracket that you get...no longer a rumour and confirmed. You have to buy the backplate which isn't available yet though.

This is primarily for people who do not have EVGA cards. (Existing 480 owners will have the chance to get it for free soon, just pay shipping)
Seriously, EVGA ftw. They just won me over for the next iteration of cards.

What I would really like is for them to make these and backplates available at say NCIX so I can put it on my PNY465. Not that I have Bad temps, but every little bit helps.

Thanks! I updated and changed the title for folks to see this. I just ordered one.

They've probably got a huge profit margin on this stuff and the backplate that's probably going to be sold. (I assume they're going to sell them since they did that with the 275, not sure though)
They deserve that huge profit margin though, they haven't excluded non EVGA card buyers and have offered not only a high airflow bracket but a single slot bracket for custom watercoolers wanting to only use a single slot for their cards.
So people on stock cooling get a cheap solution to improve temps by a bit and people that didn't buy single slot EVGA Fermis can do custom watercooling setups with single slot brackets.

You can make your own high-flow bracket for free with 10 minutes and a pair of wire cutters. Save yourself the $5 in shipping costs. Not that it isn't good of EVGA to be doing this, but it's a pretty minor mod to take the stock bracket and open it up a little more rather than having to replace it entirely.

It would be nice if it was competely free. At $4.95 USD I think that includes the cost of the bracket itself. $4.95 isn't much but considering people paid 300-500 for the 470/480 it would mean so much more if the company just sent it free of charge. Its just the little things that makes a company stand out from the rest. I've requested some parts from corsair for a 800D and never have I had to pay for shipping let alone purchase the parts itself; and shipping for a side panel is hell of a lot more then this tiny bracket. I would definitely purchase this if I had chosen to use the stock cooling for my 480.

Then I wouldn't have a bracket in case my card dies and I need to RMA...
