Powercolor Radeon HD 5970... 12 outputs anyone ? Une Radeon HD 5970 4 Go ultime pouvant gérer... 12 écrans ! I know the link is a french one, but the picture just says it all. Powercolor is working on a 5970 with 12 mini-DP outputs. 4Go of ram and core clocks yet to be known. There must not be a large amount of people who need such a device, but if it retails around $1000 maybe it would be a good deal for those who need this many display at high res. (I don't know the cost of matrox solutions..) Oh and obviously, this is a 3 slots card :).. |
Unles they did something VERY radical I'm calling BS. Can't the eyefinity chip drive 6 displays MAX? If that uses 2 it would be more like 2 seperate GPU's on 1 PCB (moreso than a normal 5970) than anything. |

2 X 6 = 12. ST |
The link was also stating that it would probably be factory overclocked with an (maybe) Artic Cooling heatsink. |
Powercolor w 12 minis Wow! What's next. I do believe we're starting to get to the point of ludicrous. Now why can't this type of stuff be applied to gaming software. If we could stay fairly close to hardware advancement the games would be outstanding. Maybe these guys need to start creating games to highlight the advances they've made by having a gaming team as well. DROOOL!!! |
Of course anybody who actually owns a 5870 or 5970 will tell you that for modern games, a 5870 can't output to 2 monitors without you turning down all the eye candy. Therefore, a 5970 should be able to run 2 monitors max at high graphics settings and nothing more. If someone actually did hook up 12 monitors to a 5970, you'd have to run it with AA and AF turned off, reduced resolution for each monitor and 16-bit color. LOL I don't think that a lot of people realize that all this Eyefinity stuff is marketing. The 5870 and 5970 aren't actually powerful enough for this stuff. I own a 5870 and I speak from experience. The only way I can run games like GTA4 smoothly on 2 monitors is to basically run graphics at medium settings. That, in turn, begs the question why am I turning off all the eye-candy when in first place I bought the 5870 to SEE all the eye-candy?! |
Belong to me cards like this one or even eyefinity-6 edition cards can't serve enthusiasths. I'm not really aware of other offerings for multi-screen solutions but AFAIK matrox is offering some good stuff too. Depending on the price difference, These cards can serve well people who needs so many displays. Yet If it was only to display basic stuff I'dd go with 4 powercolor 5770 eyefinity which can display 5 monitors. There is no way we will be able to play latest games with the highest settings AA AF maxed on 3+ displays at a decent price before a while... http://www.9xmedia.com/Images/LCD/mu...%209x%20jf.JPG |
very nice. hope the market treats you well. good exemple of a proper application of such card..actually mighty exemple. i know a few people whod love a single card in their puters |
