Default Intel pricing for Q1 2008

Interestingly, the pricing for the existing chips don't seem to be going to drop. The new Q9000 CPUs will also have more instructions per cycle so even at the same clock speeds, they'll be faster.

Default wow

That seems like aggressive pricing for those newer chips.
I wonder how AMD will respond and when.
I guess theres not going to be any steals RE current chips though. Cant wait to spend some money next year on a few upgrades!

I have my eye on the E8400 or the Q9450 =)

Those are probably the best value CPUs in the lot.

Yeah, the 9450 with 12M of cache looks very interesting at just over $300. Hopefully the on-par Canadian dollar prices will be similar to the quoted USD prices.

Extra cache might not convert directly to better day-to-day performance, but it normally kicks major butt when it comes to benchmarking and/or straight # crunching apps like super-pi or folding.

Heh.... I think I'll avoid purchasing a pre-release CPU on E-Bay, no matter how many positive comments the seller has.......

hmm. I could drive across the bridge in Montreal, and check this guy out...

It's only 10 minutes. But 1700$ for a CPU? No thank you, I'll pass.

edit. and that guy has another ES for sale... eBay.ca: IN CANADA VERY RARE! QX6700 ES EXTREME QUAD CORE CPU (item 220158915278 end time 16-Oct-07 18:39:12 EDT)

Hmmmmmm...... methinks perhaps that Intel might want to have a word or two with a gentleman who's got 2 engineering sample CPUs up for sale on E-Bay.......

I'll either get the C2D E8400 or make the jump to quad and get either the Q6600 or the Q9450
