I wonder if "Direct Conpute" (as mentioned on the Italian review) is good news for folders.....

Default Guru3D's 5870 review is UP!

ThanX for the post. I loved the translation. The 5870 impresses as expected .
The most Powerful single gpu.
Looks like the GPU competition has revved up once again, which as we know benefits us consumers.
(starts looking under the couch for some spare change)
The reviews should be coming in fast'n'furious this morning.
btw, Guru3D's 5870 review is UP!

And I quote from our conclusion:

If anything, our results should also make it apparent that only reporting average framerates means dick all when it comes to comparing GPUs.
I won't point fingers though.....

I am only interested in how it folds, and transcoding performance (numbers for transcoding seem really good). Framerates are good enough for me in the vast majority of mid range gpus....

interesting about folding, the guru3d review mentioned folding but didn't post any ppd or whatnot. Apparently there is a client that works on that card. Radeon HD 5870 review

All Guru3D did was copy / paste their 4000-series "fluff"...including the Folding section. I would love to know which client works because I sure as heck couldn't find one.

Ah HA! The fact that you cuoldn't find a folding client that works is quite interesting info all on it's own.
I'm reserving judgment on a 5850 until there are some folding numbers (and a working client, and product available).
Thnx
