Finally a single card that can play crysis at very high with good frame rates! Those numbers seems almost too good though)-I hope they are true .

well this is the one thing amd > intel right now

if these are true xfiring these in x8 mode on a p55 would be terrible

on a 790fx board though....

16x by 16x Xfire

atlthough u could just pick up a 5870x2 and put in a p55 at full 16x

imagine 5870x2 in crossfire on 16x lanes........ DROOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.. .........NBAISQKQLSKQSLMDQL:MSS

You mean... like on any Intel Core i7 X58 as well.

I like AMD just as much as the next person, and think that P55 has some silly built in limitations/brick walls, but that doesn't mean that X58 ceases to exist! Hell, X58 will soon(2010 H1) be getting 32nm 6 core/12 thread CPU's, which are not coming to LGA1156 anytime soon.

Thought I remembered seeing a short ago that GDDR5 wasn't seeing the expected speeds that the specifications allowed for. IIRC, the 4870 is known to see some improvement up to about 4000MHz mem, so the given memory clocks seem just a little weak. Of course, there are a few other features of GDDR5 that might make it perform better, clock-for-clock, so perhaps we'll be lucky enough to see a few of those?

Looks promising. Time will tell. The question is...Will it Fold???

I'm not going to run out and pick up one of these anytime soon. Although NVidia took awhile to shake their heads and make a good comeback with their 55nm tech, they still pulled it off. I'd bet that they're cooking up something BIG. Something we think of as epic proportions like the GTX 280 when it first came out, except this time they have perfected their beast. And since it's Nvidia you know damn well it's going to FOLD.

^Well that's what I meant. 4800 series can fold but...not very well. So many shaders, so much potential, so little PPD delivered.

In the world of trying to get more ppd's worth out of a card it may very well replace that question if people are building folding rigs
