Default RAM prices to increase ?

I stopped by the local shop today to look at some DDR2s. the sales person told me that I better stock up now because memory prices usually go up after june/july (following Computex). Is this true? or was he trying out his pressure sales tactic?

Apparently, chip manufacturers are going to cut back on production to try to bring prices up again- they are at absolute rock-bottom right now, and really there's nowhere to go but up. They ramped up production earlier this year expecting to sell a shitload more modules with the advent of Vista, but it just didn't happen, so they're stuck with a flood of memory chips- hence the current low prices- In short, yes- I would say they will be going up.

I am buying a new computer around the beginning of September. So you think I should buy the same DDR2 ram as above soon. I don't think prices would go up that much?

Check out Direct Canada and NCIX for super cheap memory on their weekly specials if you're not set on buying locally.

Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 for $124.99

ram prices always go up around the sept time for back to school sales. This is when shops and oem's are building the most boxes so is the manufactures best time to raise prices, ;). Summer before all this happens is usually the best time to buy when the prices are usually lower and also sales being slow till the kids return to university or school.. Ram and HD's are cheap as hell right now, Good time to buy now for anyone planning an upgrade for sure.
