Its not hard, just take a look at past history. My personal thought is the "new tech" releases are going to slip a little into the fall time, Sept/Oct, but that's just me.

Have you gotten a 2xx series yet? I havent seen any actual 2xx card for lower then $200 yet, not including the 9800GTX rebrand...

I was under the impression it would be later in the year (for the GT300)

I guess we'll see.

ATI is now AMD, who (used to) only make... CPUs

ATi is still ATi, name and all, only instead of being a separate company they are "only" a division of AMD. Think how Voodoo/HP are/usedto be, or VW and Audi, or Sony and Columbia Pictures, etc.

Intel on the other hand is purely a CPU company with no "real" GPU division.

I have no "inside" info on the release of 3xx Series GPU, as Chilly mentioned, it is atrictly based up on "past history"...and prior "new big GPU" release dates...I agree with a few here whereby it may not be until Sept / Oct 09.

Bahhh... i really want to build a new computer but have to wait for this 3xx release so i dont end up dishing out a premium for something that will be dummied in the nearest future. Hate the wait game.

Then why play into it? Unless somethings literally around the corner(a month or so), theres no use in waiting because theres something ALWAYS around the corner(the 3xx series are at least 4 months away if not more). Besides, it will be expensive when its first released, the stuff right now is extremely cheap for the performance you get. Sure it may be 1.5-2x the performance but chances are it will also be 2x(if not more) the price of the stuff today.

I can already picture myself being the moron who goes and builds a monster rig (actually a plan for me, when May comes around), only to be completely outdated in a month and a half.

And then I'd be the moron spending $x on the new 3xx series at release. I just hope that there's a straight "GTX 300" so I can have some fun and stick a little 'Spartan' sticker on it.

Guess I just have to bank on EVGA's step up plan, hey?
