Default Devil's Canyon 4790k review up

4790k review up at tomshardware if anyone wants a read. I gave it a skim, but am waiting for the HWC review to read.

Nothing to see here if you are a Haswell owner but as a SB owner, I am satisfied that temp issues are reduced and consider getting one. Apparently they come from a better bin than the 4770K too.

from what i've read and by all means correct me if i'm wrong some 87 series boards will have a bios update for this? and if not z97 is what this is ideally meant for? i;f i'm able to hit 4.5 stable on air with a 3770k, is it even worth the upgrade yet?

IMO not worth the $ at all.

I'm able to get my 4770k stable at 4.6Ghz at 1.2v, wondering if 4790ks on average can do better (not considering buying it, just want to know).

On average, not much better. I hear that they tend to max out around 4.7 unless you happen to get that golden one. I'm sticking with my 4.4 Ghz 4770K.

Struggling to stabilize mine at 4.7, really haven't had time to do in depth tweaking. Apparently the L4's are better than the L3's. As usual I have the weaker one....

I had mine at 4.6 @1.22 vcore, and no other real tweaking, stable. I haven't tried higher yet, but will.

I got my 4770k running at 4.0 GHz. Probably not the most overclocked CPU in the world, but it works for me.

I will wait for HWC. I don't trust Toms since they were caught cheating years ago.
