Default TechGage Reviews: Thermaltake TMG series CPU and GPU cooler

TechGage reviewed the latest 'silent' cooling solutions from Thermaltake in their TMG line (Thermal Maximum Grade)- the A2 CPU Cooler, and the AT2 GPU cooler. Their findings were somewhat favorable but mixed. Here are their pros and cons for each.

"Thermaltake TMG A2 CPU Cooler
  • Good
  • Elevated radiator design provides airflow to adjacent heat sources on the motherboard
  • Fan is virtually silent at 50% of full speed
  • Easy to install
  • Attractive Styling
  • Respectable thermal performance
  • Bad
  • Not silent at full speed
  • Poor clip design allows possibility of movement when installed
  • Close fin spacing creates high airflow impedance, reducing low-airflow effectiveness
  • Fan isn’t truly decoupled from fin structure as advertised"
"Thermaltake TMG AT2 GPU Cooler
  • Good
  • Good thermal performance
  • Easy to install
  • Attractive Styling
  • Bad
  • No speed control
  • Not truly silent, just quiet
  • Inefficient fan duct design decreases airflow, increases noise"

hrmm.. those thermaltake fans aren't all they are cracked up to be. I reviewed a TT cooler like that a while back and wow was i un-impressed. They create the same ammount of noise and push less air than a conventional fan. Like the performance of most ThermalTake products... they _look cool_ more than anything else.
