If a case manufacturer was to open up a case design to those who know what would be best, we would have an awesome case. But since they design them to whats "cool" we get bad cases. |

| I will give you the Sonata II with the Smartpower 450w power supply. When they designed this power case and power the supply they should have designed it so that the wires were to the inside of the case and not the outside thus allowing for better cable management. Also some motherboards namely Asus are narrower than standard ATX so with some cases you have a motherboard that has .5-1" of overhang that when putting the connector for the power to it you flex the board a lot. And what are they thinking when it comes to putting doors on a case? That hasn't been the smartest idea as a lot of people close them and forget to open it when making cds or after they've made a cd and it ejects and slams into the door. I build computers for a living and find that some I dread to build and some I don't mind. |

I guess I was referring to the reaction to the p180- I think that if almost every review of the p180 didn't rave about it (which they seem to), people wouldn't be slamming it so bad- I'm not saying it deserves the praise it has gotten, but it is (at least was when it was designed) an innovative design. I can understand the urge to temper hype with some critical perspective, but there's no way that you can hate that case with a passion - there are problems- one of the most recognized is cable management- not a huge deal, but if you know enough to pull the left side panel off and drill a 5/8" hole in the top, you'll know that the cables fit nicely through there and are totally hidden- more than other cases in its class if that's important to you- and cramped? yeah maybe if you want to house your entire hydroponic operation in there, but you can't tell me the sonata is swimming in ballroom dancing space, and neither is anything else in that price range. If I were the designers of that case, I would be flattered that people were comparing it to cases like the stacker and lian lis that are twice its price

I liked the P160 a lot. Then I decided that maybe a smaller case by Antec would do me better for LANs and would take up less space too. That's why I went for an Antec NSK4400. It works fine for that but now I'm thinking that the P180 would be just about perfect for me. I came so close to getting this one that I had to slap myself to cancel the order http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...cture=Swiftech It's not that the case is not good, it's just so much money but it looks good and has water cooling buitl in and it keeps nagging me to buy it.

You could mod a cheaper case with better watercooling stuff for much less. Take my $40 case, with the $200 worth of watercooling gear I have and it will outperform that overpriced prebuilt. That is a great deal for the non modders, but I guess I like to do it myself and save. Don't get me wrong. I know I am seemingly bashing anything that is pricey. I just don't understand why they have to charge so much for $10 worth of materials and $10 worth of labor building them. Cases just should not be costing hundreds of dollars unless you are getting a hand fabricated one off custom built unit. Antec rolls off tens of thousands of their units for sale and there is no reason they couldn't drop the costs. They are not any better build quality than the cheapos, don't let anyone fool you otherwise.
