Tri SLI, Quad SLI, SLI comparisons with 9800GTS, GX2

Tweaktown did a bunch of runs with various configurations of cards and the interesting thing to me was that the two 9800GTX's performed as well as three of the same cards, and as well as two of the very expensive 9800 GX2- I know that the drivers are immature, but it looks pretty clear that we'd be wiser to NOT consider a pair of GX2s and go for a pair of 9800GTX or a single GX2 if we want to play Crysis on high settings. In some of the benchmarks, the single GX2 was faster than the pair. For PT Boats, you're better off with a single GTX.

Very interesting. Would still rather just get one GTX and oc the hell out it for 1680*1050.

Crysis on very high still cant be pushed past 30fps on any configuration-wish I could see what it looks like on very high in DX10...

Thanks for the link babrbarossa. I was completely torn whether I should get a 9800GX2 or a 9800GTX. After that comparison, I am so getting a 9800GX2.

The same results stand true with 2 8800GTS or 8800GTs for that matter in SLI out performing the more expensive route of a single 8800Ultra.
