Well saw this on Hard*** and followed the link.

Heh... they're getting smarter at this.... Used to be they'd just add a heavy plate to the base of the PSU. :)

Interesting but his conclusion is way off base. This wasn't meant in any way to deceive end users since users don't typically "feel" the weight of a PSU until they've already purchased it. End users don't know what a PFC coil is either.

No, this was done by a SUPPLIER to deceive their CLIENT who then went on to purchase thousands of these to sell to into the channel.

most PFC coils are round and heavy gauge wire and 4 leads

lol thats pretty ridiculous... but shouldn't someone who is buying these en masse have the knowledge to not be fooled by this?

I trust my kilo watt platinums and corsair builder series for anything less. Cheaper brand PSUs just arent worth it when shinanigans like this keep poping up.
