Totally agree that the majority of the profits can be had in the mobile market (maybe console market as well).
But aside from pure processor speed, I fear that a monopoly will lead to innovation rot in the high end, which could affect an entire company's lineup. I think that its better for the low-end customer that a company is trying hard to get performance parts in tip-top shape so that innovations will trickle down to them as well.
