But even they have some issues... i went in there the other day looking for a copy of El Camino, which I had seen like fifty copies of the previous week. I thought okay, i'll ask... I waited at the counter while the lady assisted three people who approached the desk AFTER me and then she told me "oh yeah, I have no idea because we don't have a CD database." I was like DERP DERP DERP, what kind of business you running here!! Ironically enough, I found a copy at Best Buy for like five bucks cheaper than everywhere else

The USA Internet will be getting the tax soon, but in the meantime get out and Rape and Pillage.

Rules for US Tax on the Internet (they have to have a physical location in your state to charge you tax).

I already read this article last week when it was published.

Personally I didn't like the tone of the article, however I do understand where the writer was coming from.

I used to purchase things from Futureshop, when I didn't know any better. (read young & dumb)
While I don't actually make large purchases from Best Buy, or Futureshop anymore (with the exception of Blu-Ray's /dvd's/cd's on boxing week.)

I have noticed their level of customer service take a huge slide.
The corporate culture of the organization has changed, and seemingly not necessarily for the better.

I remember when I was younger, I used to see the sales people really helping people with purchases, and walking them to their cars... being friendly & hospitable.

Now (boxing week last week) I see the younger folks working there, once the customer has paid, the kids basically go back to playing with their cell phones.
(note this does not include the people I see who purchased LCD tv's they are physically being helped & escorted)

Ah... times have changed.

I've observed the same effect, Grampa, and it just happened to coincide with Best Buy moving in on Future Shop. First by putting a lot of price pressure on them, forcing FS to cut back, then by installing Best Buy's corporate policies after they bought out the FS chain.

Wikipedia makes a note of a key difference with Best Buy -- FS used to have separate classes of employees with hourly sales associates and commissioned product experts, with the idea being that expertise in a specific area translated into higher sales/commissions and better customer service. In 2007 all sales associates were rebranded as product experts as well to differentiate FS from Best Buy, but to my mind it draws the chains closer together from the customer perspective since you can no longer distinguish people who (purportedly) know what they're selling from the warm body in a uniform T-shirt.

I don't buy much from BB or FS ... my last time was from BB when I find out they were selling some boxed DVD sets at least 60% off in compare with other stores at full price! Brought a few sets and saved me some $$ in pocket. My last time at FS ... I believe at least 2 years ago or more!

Whatever what I brought from are online or Visions (they have airmiles - brought a 3D Blu-ray sony player there for $119). Wouldn't cry if they went bankrupt one day ... look what happened to Blockbusters and Rogers, do it brother me? Naw, not at all.
