Default Lenovo x120e - Delayed until March 8th [Engadget]

Woe are we, the many that are awaiting this excellent-looking Fusion-based notebook.

Lenovo ThinkPad X120e won't ship until March 8th -- Engadget

For those not in the know, the x120e is rumored to be priced around $400 USD for the entry level models - some $100-150 cheaper than its HP equivalent, the DM1z.

I have been hearing some not-so-encouraging information about Fusion products from my various contacts. Supposedly the AMD's support structure (ie: WHQL-signed drivers, bug fixes, etc.) is completely MIA which has caused slippage in release dates.

This is why finding Fusion-based products -be they mobos, PCs or netbooks- is next to impossible right now in North America. There are a few Acer netbooks designed around the C-50 platform available in fits and spurts but that's about it.

Seeing AMD dropping the ball on what looks to be a class-leading product isn't anything new but this time I am truly disappointed. :(

Lets just hope that by the 8th they'll have all these issues worked out. It really is an amazing platform for netbook/notebook use and I'd hate to see it not catch on due to some sillyness.

Also Sky, have you heard any rumors about a convertible fusion tablet/netbook ?

Just the laptop I was waiting to see.
Not nice at all... Might have to look elsewhere...

Not really since the only APU I can see in that situation is the 9W Ontario along with the Hudson chipset. The main problem is the wattage / TDP at 9W. Most tablets are using processors with 1/3 of that (I believe Tegra 2 is listed at around 2.5W) due to their slim form factor paired with the necessiity for silent operation.

IMO, Ontario is too powerful for today's tablet needs. Maybe a 28nm Brazos derivative will be perfect for next generation tablets but right now, AMD is right where it needs to be prior to possibly refining things for upcoming products.

I meant a Laptop/Tablet convertible a la X200/X201 (but obviously cheaper). There wouldn't be any problems using an E-350 in that now would there?

I wouldn't be surprised to see one from ASUS and maybe Lenovo but they will likely be prohibitively priced.
