Read Guru3D's review, waiting for our own to pass judgment however it seems intel just killed the 970 and 980x with this new 2600k. I am indeed impressed however i'll avoid the upgrade bug for this and wait for LGA2011 as the performance increase wont be noticeable for what i use my pc for (gaming and occasionally matlab/multisim/visual studio)

i don't know where you see that?, single threaded app is faster because of the architecture which is normal....in single thread any core i7 is pretty much the same, but proper multithreaded apps still sees the 6 cores shining on top of the list. look at 3dmarkvantage on guru3d, 4.3ghz SB can't come close a stock 980x

Wow what an impressive chip they have here. Sorry for those who just bought 980X at big price XD

Don't quite get where all this "Bad news for those who bought a hex core on an *X58* platform" is coming from. I only see a quad core, dual channel RAM and an architecture improvement with (generally) limited tweaking options.
You can start saying all that crap when socket 2011 comes around.

Some early benches show almost 50K PPD @4.9Ghz P6900/P2686. For the price (vs 980x) its nice. Can't wait for it's big brother.
