You had to pay a premium in the past also, in the form of higher-end motherboards.

With K-series chips all but the cheapest motherboards are able to achieve roughly the same overclock (on air anyways).

my 100 dollar giga vs your 250 dollar asus save firewire esata and all the other goodies should do the same with the k chips right?

Hmm...idling at 32-35 degrees at 4.2GHz and loading at 52ish (give or take one or two degrees). Going up to 4.7/4.8 though requires at least 1.3 imo.

If you already have X58 or P55 I don't really see the point, may as well wait until Socket 2011......if you don't, go for it ;)
