Your kind of missing the point of low budget. I agree the i3 is an awesome budget chip that overclocks very well, but if you are on a very tight and fixed budget for a GAMING rig I think the $30 difference in price between an x3 and i3 (approx $85 for x3 and $115 for i3) would be better spent on bumping up a step in the gpu (example $30 extra will get you from a 5670 to an 5750/gts450 or it could get you from a 5770 to a gtx 460). That said if you can spare the extra few dollars it opens up other options...such as getting a better CPU.
