If you go to some tech websites that have commenting there are a lot of idiots wondering why there is so many GPU's in this super computer. Guess they don't know what CUDA is.

It's the fastest supercomputer.

In fact it is twice as fast as the previous fastest.

So why should he change his title?

Actually the upgrade it just got supposedly made it the fastest in the world.

Chinese government hates CUDA, it's foreign and proprietary, just like Windows. They're actually using OpenCL with 4870's. It's the same reason they use Linux, it may be foreign, but they can make it their own.

Actually they are not using 4870's, at least according to the article you linked to. "After the upgrade, it is equipped with 14,336 Xeon X5670 processors and 7,168 Nvidia Tesla M2050 general purpose GPUs"

It also says the same thing here: China's Tianhe-1A is world's fastest supercomputer, plans to usurp the West now complete -- Engadget


Oh and it only uses a mild 4.04 megawatts of power.
