My System Specs

Default Sandy Bridge tested

First info I have seen on Sandy Bridge being TESTED. Haven't noticed this link anywhere on the site yet. Enjoy. Seems pretty promising.

Eh i'm not really sold due to some of the limitations this chipset has.

1) 1 x 16 PCI-E or 2 x 8 PCI-E, Tri and Quad SLI/Crossfire probably wont be a possibility for this
2) No real ability to overclock
3) Forgot what it was

"Overclocking, as we know it, is dead."

but good god power consumption/performance is killer!

edit if a way to oc the cheaper chips is not found, i wont bother, save maybe a business class unit where oc'ing would be blasphemous and unheard of!

I don't care too much about the whole overclocking thing, since I'm only interested in the LGA2011 platform anyway. As far as performance goes, Sandy Bridge looks to bring some pretty impressive improvements over Nehalem.

I'll definitely be waiting a while b4 bumping 2 the new socket. By then all the hype and comments from real use will be out. That and the fact I want to enjoy the 1366 for a while.

With those turbo boost, and efficiency numbers, I personally, wouldn't even worry about OC'ing. Unless you're into benchmarking or squeezing every ounce of juice out of your CPU, OC'ing is not terribly necessary when it comes to gaming or productivity. And if that's the case, then Intel's premium platform has your name all over it.

true. but for low end cpus, overclocking to get more juice or get up there with higher clocked models of the same family might have some importance with a number of consumers.
i read a little something about bulldozer not being much and not compatible with am3, i think it was on 3dplanet.de. ill wait for a proper amd presentation or preview/sneak peak from a credible site/author before making a backed judgement :)
