And the Crysis benchmark the stock GTS beats the OC2 GTX. So a heavy OC GTS might beat the Ultra XXX.

They are neck and neck at high settings. With CSAA that may change. Plus the GTX isnt likely to go into meltdown if you OC it up past OC2 speeds. If you can get that GTS to OC without temperture issues then it will be pretty brutal, but 512DDR3?

Still be great step up from a 8800GTS..

Those power consumption figures are almost a little embarrassing, considering the die-shrink. But no matter, because we've all got 1 kW PSU's by now, right?

Looking at some of the benchmarks, you have to seriously wonder how much of the scores can be blamed on available video memory.

Can't agree that it would be a great step up from the current 112SP GTS. Maybe if you do not currently own a high end card it would be a better product, but I doubt it will be more than marginally faster than the current 112SP G80 cored 8800 GTS and the extra memory and bandwidth of the current GTS can only help it as the resolutions rise.

Default yes the 112sp G80 8800GTS is pretty similiar

When i was talking about a great step-up from the 8800GTS i meant the older G80 GTS without the extra stream processors. The 112sp is an excellent card as well. Its getting quite confusing with all these revisions on the same name.

I hear ya there. I am completely confused and wish they would change the new models, even if it was 8850 or something like that.

Agreed naming this thing 8800GTS was a mistake. Now we have 8800GTS G80 w/96 SPs, 8800GTS G80 w/112 SPs and 8800GTS G92 w/256bit Bus. How can they all be 8800GTS cards? And why the reduced bus? It's like an overpriced GT IMO.

Reduced bus but a faster shader clockspeed to make them faster.

The 8800GTS isn't really that much of a performance gain over 8800GT so it's not worth it for me, especially at the resolutions I play at.

That is what I am trying to tell all the people that are trying to step-up from a GT. You wont notice the difference and if you just bought the card why step-up now and not wait till feb and maybe get a 9series that might be twice as fast.

Agreed, stepping-up from a GT is not much of a step-up. If I were even considering a step-up with my GT, I'd wait as long as I could before going through with it. There is such a minimal gain in performance with the G92 GTS that I can't even see the justification in the price difference, never mind squandering a step-up for it. :\
