I think it looks like the 5830 fiasco...

They might be in a hurry to get rid of FERMI defective chips to get some $$$$$!

i always wondered how they come up with lower parts...do they do the math and see theres 50k chips that are 80% operational and from there they create a 'new' card?

Wow, pricing = epic fail. I would say something may be up with the drivers but that seems like more of an excuse than a probable reason. If it were $249 then maybe it would make more sense.

Basically, XBit has effectively destroyed their relationship with NVIDIA for a scoop with drivers that are already outdated (256 was released today) while using a limited number of benchmarks. IMO they did their readers a huge injustice considering NVIDIA has already stated to NOT use the 197 series with upcoming cards.

What we are seeing is pageview mongering taking precedence over proper journalism.

so we should see another 10-15% performance increase with a proper drivers set? :)

Hm, Nvidia can't make a cheaper card compare to a ATI that's nearly suicide or using defective chip ( which would be dumb ) And at least, what we want to see first is a low series card like 50 to 100$ price range and 100 to 200 for lower end system. Don't forget that these lower end card represent a big share of the market that ATI is actually dominating with 60$-80$ DX11 card with good HD performance and sound capable over HDMI without searching for hours how does it work.

I am sure new drivers will help this card some, but I find it hard to believe that they will justify the price tag that will be attached to this one.
