I like Windows XP. It's a great OS. It's really mature, and not really much in the way of surprises. If it breaks, I can fix it.

I have a "secondary" computer here that run Windows XP. It's my work machine. It does everything I don't want to have to do on my main gaming machine - so I can game.

My game machine was running Vista, now Win7. There are a few things I dont' like about Win7 over WinXP, but I need to know it and learn it regardless.

As of right now I don't feel as confident with Windows 7. I know I can fix a Win XP machine

When I say "fix" I mean "fix in place", not a wipe and reinstall.

User interface.
User interface?

What user interface? Its the exact same as Vista with a shinier Aero interface... WHOOPEDEE DOO.

I've never liked Aero, I don't like the preview window in Win7 or half the things Aero does itself.

I don't like the context menus and I sure don't like the new explorer.

A lot of the stuff that bugged me in Vista is STILL there in Win7..

Then don't use it and get out of this thread.

Protip: Memory usage won't affect you for an OS you don't use.

the spike you see in memory use is when I turned on GPU and SMP folding. and as it I am using opera with 3 youtube videos cached and watching 1080p LOTR

Ive noticed zero difference between 8gb and 4gb of ram in my machine. I hate to say it, but i kinda miss the days wehn my pc would lock up for a few min while data in ram was dumped from memory lol.

Free memory is low but it's all cached so meh.
Not sure about that.
