Default Internet security moving toward "white list" @ CBC.ca

CBC News In Depth: Technology

Quote:
Internet security is headed toward a major reversal in philosophy, where a "white list" which allows only benevolent programs to run on a computer will replace the current "black list" system, which logs and blocks an ever-growing list of malevolent applications, internet security giant Symantec Corp. says.

Default

IMO, this is just wrong on so many counts......

Not only is this "net nanny" for adults, the chance of keeping hackers from easily spoofing a "white list" program to gain unhindered access to your computer (it's one of the "good guys" so don't bother keeping an eye on it...) is too high.
