4870X2 gets beaten by the 295, but it's still pretty close, and it's still less expensive.
If you're spending $450+ on a card (when it was new) you probably want the best.

True, but the GTX295 was and still is way more expensive than that. Way more.

Pretty sure prices were roughly $100 more for the 295, but it beats the 4870X2 by a good margin. Anyhow back on topic.... What do you guys expect pricing and performance to be like? I think it'll be $599-649 and be roughly 70% faster than a single 5870.

Perhaps not $100 worth IMO...

$649, straight up.

I prefer the x2 moniker just as it distinguishes the dual gpu cards, but, eh, what's in a name?
The (early) benchmarks have ben removed from alienbabeltech's site as reqested by ATI. Copies and pics around - some at GeekSmack

Aw man that sucks. Straight from ATI. How did that bloke get a sample 5870X2 ANYWAY?

Looked over the benchies real quick. Firstly, some of those are pretty poor benches. Secondly, I'm disappointed. Mind you those are just basic drivers, should be taken with a grain of salt

But I sure hope it performs a bit better. Enthusiast settings at 1920x1200 on Crysis Warhead with 2xAA getting average FPS in the mid 20's isn't that bad. But mid 20's sucks.

I wouldn't be surprized to see pricing hit $649- $699 at first, I was offered a couple of pre-production 5970's over the weekend for $575 each but since ATI drivers haven't yet caught up with the capabilities of this card and no warranty I took a pass (if anyone wants one let me know, I can hook you up..lol)

A 5850 was a tight squeeze in my case, 13.5" is insane.

Just need to sell stuff first... For some reason people don't buy my stuff . I'll re-make a new FS thread soon, hopefully things will go so i can fund a new eyefinity setup (finally). lol
