I've got one of those self-bricking Seagate drives, it still hasn't crapped out on me (knocks on wood)

I just received my two RMAd seagate 500 Gb drives back- both vrapped out after almost exactly 6 months.

Seagate makes it a PITA to RMA as well with their strict packing requirements- no newspaper, not styrofoam of any kind, must have static bag, must be suspended in a foam rubber holder. Way too much hassle for a couple of paper weights.

I think the reason they've done this is because the fleet of dead 500GB drives coming back are easily overhauled so their trying to make sure they're resaleable.....by further inconveniencing the already inconvenienced customer.

Linus, you have access to the data from one of Canada's largest etailers, why don't you post your own stats?

I will never buy a seagate ever again in my life,

Have had 2 500's and a 750 crap out after a couple weeks use,It was alright to rma them since they still had a store warranty too but i'm sitting on another 750 that went screwy.

Tried to rma it myself but got returned because it wasn't packed to their liking.

Still have a warranty till 2013 and cant rma the dam thing
