Default Big Bruin looks at OCZ System Elite memory

I've been wondering what the deal with this "Sytem Elite" memory is. Big Bruin manages to toghten the timings down to 4-4-4-13 which is better than many OCZ Gold kits will do, but there is also the OCZ Vista Edition kits that are most likely the same thing, and are cheaper.

The performance of the OCZ Technology PC2-6400 System Elite 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 was respectable in all tests conducted. It performed on par with other kits with similar specifications, and by tightening the timings from the published values of 5-5-5-15 to 4-4-4-13, the results were even better.

The System Elite series is something slightly different from OCZ Technology's typical fare, as it isn't really an enthusiast grade of DDR2 memory. It is intended for those who want the reliability and compatibility they know they will get from the OCZ brand name, minus some of the performance features and overclockability they might pay extra for. That said, this kit still boasts some enthusiast style features, such as the flashy copper heatspreader, EVP coverage up to 2.0V, a lifetime warranty, and the ability to run at the enhanced timings of 4-4-4-13. Just don't count on this kit carrying you to a high overclock, as that did prove to be one of this kit's weaknesses.

Pros:

Rated at 5-5-5-15 timings, capable of more aggressive 4-4-4-13
Performed well when compared to other DDR2-6400
Lifetime warranty
OCZ's EVP coverage for use up to 2.0V
Basic memory with some enthusiast features and styling

Cons:

Not for overclocking
Relatively expensive
