Cos with XP this thing would be pretty good.
I think Vista is really unsuitable for the hardware that they've put in this Vaio.
To the best of my knowledge - as Sony does not include Windows XP drivers, you would not be able to install XP on the notebook

However - given the components used, which can be frequently found on netbooks sporting Windows XP - it may be possible to find the necessary drivers - I would have to do some more indepth searching on that though

HOWEVER - With the upcoming arrival of Windows 7, the Vaio P does have driver support for it, so it should absolutely FLY with the new OS :)

The instant-on OS uses a very similar interface to the PS3 and the PSP.
