Default Fujitsu Siemens AMILO GraphicBooster

So here's a new one:

One of the first external graphic box solutions on the market worldwide for extreme gaming and 3D performance

Run up to 3 external displays simultaneously (with AMILO Notebook Sa 3650)

Two additional USB 2.0 ports for keyboard and mouse

ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 with 512 MB GDDR3 dedicated video memory

Interfaces: DVI-I (incl. HDCP), HDMI (incl. HDCP and S/PDIF out), USB 2.0

Small dimensions and stylish design: 180 x 130 x 33.5 mm

Weight: only 0.5 kg

Too bad we can't get some decent Crossfire performance from the onboard gpu...but leaving the box at home and then carrying the laptop to work ot whatever seems interesting...get back home, hook up the box, and get some decent gaming...personally, I think it would benefit from a mobility radeon 4870x2...

Guru3D has a review up:

Amilo SA3650 with Graphics Booster review

Thoughts?

ATI's XGP is a great idea but it has a ways to go considering there are very few upcoming products which support it.

I gotta completely agree with you on that one...having to buy a specialized laptop makes it harder for the market for such devices to broaden...too bad Dell/Acer/HP don't have the necessary connection on thier notebooks...

Really a shame that external PCI-E never really caught on.

Could you imagine the size of a pci-e 16x cable?

The way I see it though, in order for high-res monitor/TVs to be a success, there's no other way. I have a design in mind, but it's a hard sell to the people I want pushing it.
