Could this be the reason of over heating of the CPU due to dust in the fan and the ventilation area located at the left lower side of the Notebook? How to clean the dust without opening the laptop ? the dust sprays?

I'm pretty consistently over 8GB of use. Why bother closing a tab if I'm going to use it again within the next few weeks and I've got the memory for it?

Or months for that matter, I've got 85 chrome tabs open right now using 2.4gb ram

PS D:\users\urmom> (Get-Process chrome).count
85

PS D:\users\urmom> Get-ProcessGroupUsage chrome | select name,mem

Name Mem
---- ---
chrome 2,390.1

Is having that many tabs open also taxing on the cpu?

I noticed the OP also uses VMWare. OP, why not Virtualbox or Xen? You have to pay for VMW? Is it that much better?

Anyway, since the OP is using virtualization, I believe you benefit with more RAM - the more the better.

It's one of the reasons why I'm debating whether to buy a 16gb (2x8gb) kit or the 8gb single.
