On the other hand compared to many many other retailers I have never had an issue bringing stuff back or RMAing stuff through them.

Normally their prices are pretty good and often beat NCIX. NCIX could always drop a store in Calgary and start competing head to head with them too I suppose.

I'm pretty sure the price of that kit now is twice that now. Crazy
Sounds like you got the same sale I did. I've been wanting my bump my "server" up to 32GB but it's no longer cost-effective to do so. That 16GB will have to suffice for the foreseeable future, unless prices come back down.

If only we knew... I would of stock piled RAM

Depending on which side of the fence you're sitting on it's probably having an effect on used gear pricing as well.... selling a motherboard / cpu / mem combo for $150 doesn't make a lot of sense if the memory alone is $90 retail.

The biggest trend I'm noticing is that memory pricing seems to be fixed (fixed as in a stable price as opposed to criminally priced... ;) ) with little room for decent sale pricing. Gotta be killing small home builders... memory + OS alone starts at a firm $200 and then work your way up from there.

Seeing as how pricing seems to be consistent between differing e-tailors, my guess would be that they've got little to no markup on them and that they're not the ones making the profit.

The same thing is happening as when WD had the flood in one of their HDD factories a couple years back. All manufacturers raised their prices and it took 18 months for it to get back to normal. Mind you, WD posted RECORD profits and their share prices skyrocketed during this period, even though they were shipping less hard drives.

Because there's really only 4 or 5 manufacturers of DDR3 meant for PC's, it's easier for them to raise prices and have it stick.
