Default Ripjaws X C9D vs. CL10D

Hi guys!

I'm trying to decide two G.Skill Ripjaws X memory kits, both 16GB (2X8GB) dimms. The only difference between them (aside from color of the spreader) is the CAS latency, one being 9, and the other 10. I'm of the understanding that the difference between 9 and 10 is going to be negligible, at least to me while gaming and doing photoshop work (e.g. stitching 20 pics into panorama). I could be wrong however, so I'd like the experts on here to let me know.

Price difference is negligible. I only ask because I like the color of the CL10D a bit more (suits my mobo selection better)...

Thanks!!!

Whats the speed of the two kits. 1600 vs 1800 ?

what the skews on what we are talking about.

My Corsair 1600 will only do 1600 cant push very fare at all but stable at 1600. 9-9-9 T2 1600

memory Rated fore higher speed are more stable at lower speed than lower rated most of the time.

They're both 1600, iirc. The only two differences are the CAS latency and heat spreader color...

Fixed that. You wont notice any difference in day to day stuff. If you run benchmarks for a hobby, different story.

You should be grabbing 1866 or 2133 anyway... Actually according to pcpartpicker there is only $20 difference between the cheapest 1600 and 2400..
With a minimal difference like that and a roomy budget, I'd go 2400 (it was much much more just a few months ago, the price spike doesn't seem to be hitting the higher priced kits as much as the lower end 1600)..
For colour scheme, the Tridentx is red and Ares is blue.. again minimal difference in timings.

Guess I'll have to hold off on that and stick with 1600 for now, I've already opened the kit.

Sorry guys, one more question.

Sniper 1600 Cl9 vs 1844 Cl9 vs Crucial Ballistix 1600 Cl8.

I'm leaning towards the Ballistix, if only it isn't yellow...

I'm picking up a second kit for my friend's pure gaming rig (same specs as new build in my sig, except for ram, obviously). He's not going to OC memory at all and will use XMP profile. He originally selected the ripjaws x like I did but he doesn't like the blue heatspreaders to go with his Maximus VI Formula. I told him there's Ripjaws X with red heatspreaders but he won't go for the CAS 10.

I kind of like the Ares for the low profile, which will work nicely with the Noctua D14. In terms of stock performance, however, I haven't the faintest clue so I'm asking you guys here. :D

I'm running the ares.. it tends to be slightly cheaper too and you can always take off the stickers and even the heat-spreaders.. they are mainly cosmetic anyway.

I was using a CL8 kit at 1600 and saw no difference versus CL9.
