Answered: To buy or not to buy, that is the question (the answer is no)

I am starting to look for deals on a CPU/Ram/MOB upgrade for my desktop. I have found someone local that is selling 4x4gb (16gb) of ddr3 for $75. The issue is that he says it has no brand (no pictures and I haven't seen it yet) and its only 1333mhz (though supposedly 1.5v CL9). If I buy new I would likely get 2x4gb (half the amount, but probably all I need) for that price on sale. I am in no rush, since I don't think I will get all my components until blackfriday/boxing week sales (or the BST on here).

The question is, do I buy or not?

Right now I am leaning towards not purchasing and getting some quality 1600+mhz 2x4gb. What would you do?

EDIT: Thanks for the opinions. Going with my and everyone else's opinion and saying pass to this random ram.

RAM prices are out the window now, since you are in no rush it's a no brainer, I would wait for black friday and quality ram..

As above.

Possible that the rising prices will keep going to Nov and negate any savings from Black Friday?

I wouldn't go for 1333 myself, sure go second-hand (from someone you trust and can test / give back to) but I wouldn't buy 4x4gb and certainly not @1333. But thats just me..

Sounds good everyone. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't making a bad call. I will stick with my gut feeling and say pass.

Hopefully they drop on black friday, but will see.

I'd want to know for sure that the memory I picked was going to work with the motherboard I picked. I've had boards that were very picky about memory. YMMV
