My System Specs

Default DDR3 won't make waves for some time: Bit-Tech

Due to lack of supporting chipsets, few actual ddr3 offerings, sky-high prices due to the required ground-up development of manufacturing process, and the lackluster performance expected initially- It will likely be a good, long time before ddr3 takes the mainstream.

with new DDR versions, it's more about the MHz they can get over the latency. DDR3 should be able to reach 2GHz speeds, so that'll be where the selling point is. with the memory of video cards reaching the 1GHz+ range, system memory has some catching up to do.

and it seems that speed is somewhat over-rated and latency is actually where it's at.

With the launch of AM2 last May, almost everyone "just got into" DDR2. Unless you were an Intel fanboi prior to Core, of course.

In real life performance, I don't believe that DDR2 is that far ahead of DDR1. I don't really see the need to move to DDR3 right now...
