My System Specs

Default Dominator Platinum 1866 - Quad or Dual Channel

Hey guys
Bob Zone question.

I'm looking at these for a planned X79 build - Mobo RIVE w 3930k

NCIX and Corsair specs state Dual Channel Memory

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB 4X4GB DDR3-1866 240PIN C9 DIMM 1.5V Dual Channel Memory Kit

Memory Express states Quad Channel Memory

Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR3 1866MHz CL9 Quad Channel Kit (4 x 4GB) at Memory Express

Obviously $40 cheaper thru Memory Express, I would assume 4 x 4GB kit in a RIVE would be running Quad Channel?

Yes. Dual triple and quad channel is actually the memory controller being able to access 2, 3 or 4 sticks simultaneously. There's nothing special about the memory, other than how it's marketed.

That is nice memory I have 32GB of the 1866mhz platinum. Some of the most forgiving stuff I have ever had. You can get hundreds of mhz more on them. If I remember right you can get past 2133mhz by relaxing the timings to 10-11-10.

I have that memory and it is great. I do have two kits of the 2x8GB for a total of 32GB and it is amazingly rock solid. Plus it looks great too.
