Default Low voltage ram?

I'm trying to learn more about ram and voltages. I'm new to OC'ing but I want to have flexibility between OC'ing and low power consumption.

On either Ivy or Sandy bridge-E, am I better off getting 1.35v, and OC, or 1.65v and scale back when wanted? I really don't know where to start, see my build below(not finished). But can really use the advice. Thanks

1.5v or 1.65v don't bother with the 1.35v memory. And get whatever you can afford 1600mhz memory.

the only 1.35v memory that is good is the samsung low profile ones

go for gskills 1.5v stuff

pabloz0r has a set of corsair rev 2.1 verry good stuff inside should hit 2000mhz

thanks for the help, 1.50v is the winner. I have found through the years that corsair memory does me well, never have had any problems. G.Skill, have heard good things about...I'm just going to follow my wallet (4x4GB) and the egg count in reviews :)....and keep the latency around 8 or 9

Well I just recently found out about this Samsung 30nm ram its constantly sold out everywhere, it's cheap, low profile and over clocks like crazy, people pushing it to 2400mhz. Probably want to check it out if you're going after reviews/ratings this stuff is at the top. I don't know if I'm allowed to link to other forums, so just Google it here's a link to newegg.

found it on the yank site :). I pulled the trigger on it. Do I need to find low profile heat spreaders?

I actually cancelled the order and ordered from ramguys. was cheaper, and offered free ground shipping. Newegg offered crap saver shipping that takes 2 weeks to get to my address. Verified 5 in stock, well now 3.

if you gonna overclock them to 2133 just needs a fan on top
1866 you should be good with good airflow

fan on top beats a heatspreader anyday ;)

I'm probably going to just do 1866 at first, then maybe step it up later. I would hate ruin $100 in ram because I'm a noob. what do i need to change the voltage to, if any, for 1866? thanks for the help. Love this ram already 1.35v!!

Best idea would be to google them and find what other people are able to achieve on them first then experiment from there. There are a several threads out there dedicated to over clocking this Samsung ram, to give an idea others are achieving 2000mhz+ on stock voltage of 1.35v
